Our Services

Lawrenceville Dermatology and Dr. Hubert specialize in medical and surgical dermatology. All skin conditions are evaluated carefully and thoroughly, and the latest and most appropriate treatments are discussed with every patient. We strive to provide a patient centered treatment plan of all skin conditions.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a common problem and is usually cured easily when treated early. The most common forms of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, are usually found on sun exposed skin such as the head, neck, upper torso and extremities. These cancers tend to run in families and are usually removed by simple procedures under local anesthesia in the office. Melanoma is a less common type of skin cancer but is far more serious. Melanoma usually appears as a strange and irregular mole, and is the leading cause of skin cancer death. Melanoma occurs frequently on sun exposed skin, however your entire body should be examined for suspicious growths. Early detection and treatment is the key to curing melanoma.

Mole Evaluation & Skin Exams

Moles are common skin growths that occur all over the body. Moles can be brown, pink, tan, or flesh colored. They are usually round or oval, and may be flat or raised. Most moles are harmless and do not require treatment. Monthly self skin exams are recommended to look for new or changing moles. When checking your moles, we recommend looking for the ABCDE's: Asymmetry (a mole that you cannot fold over in half evenly), irregular Border, multiple Colors, large Diameter (bigger than a pencil eraser), or Evolving (growing or changing). If you have any moles with these characteristics, please schedule an appointment immediately to have the moles further evaluated.

Acne

Acne is a very common skin problem in teenagers and adults that starts with black and whiteheads, pimples and cysts. Acne usually appears on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders, can be a source of significant emotional distress, and in severe cases can lead to permanent scarring. Contrary to popular belief, acne is generally not due to poor hygiene or diet. Depending on the severity of the acne, we use various combinations of topical and oral medicines, hormonal treatments, non-invasive procedures, and, when necessary, isotretinoin (Accutane) to customize an individual treatment plan for every patient.
